Managing the Menu
Pages can exist but no show in the menu. Usually you will want the page to be in the menu, or you will need to get to them from manually created links
Put Page Into Menu
- Be logged in, and go to the page
- Above the edit box, there is a black button "Page Options +" -- click on it
- The Page Options button becomes red with "Page Options -" and there is now a form below it
- Click on the box that says "add this page to menu" -- you will then see more options
- Add the text to show in the menu
- If this is to be in a submenu -- pick the parent page (this is above the black box)
- Add where to put it in the menu or submenu
- SAVE IT -- you must hit the save button (either in right column or below the bottom of the edit box)
Hints
You can add a custom URL -- this is the part of the URL after ...fnpschapters.org -- if you leave it blank, one will be created for you -- leaving it blank and coming back to edit if it is cumbersome is recommended. NEVER CHANGE THE URL FOR THE HOME (USUALLY WELCOME!) PAGE
Do add tags and keywords, and maybe a meta description -- these help bots find your page
You do not have to think too much about these -- most search engines today rely predominantly on page content -- so make that good
For your home page -- it is best to tell people who you are an what your chapter does and not use it for a list of officers.
