This content management system has a news manager. This news manager lets you edit bite-sized pieces of information instead of having to create a hugely long and complicated page.
Use it when you have a lot of short announcements or posts.
- Click on Pages and create a page to hold the news -- I recommend calling it News, at least for this discussion. You will edit this page using the News Manager -- it is going to claim the entire page. You should put the news page into the menu (I did not do that for this exercise)
- Click on the Plugins tab and activate the news manager if it is not already active
- Click on Pages -- you should now see News Manager in the right column
- Any time you want to edit the news, click on "News Manager"
- Click on its Settings, and at a minimum give it the name of your news page -- I'm making it "news" -- you have lots of options for how the news will be displayed -- play with it. I suggest you set a size for header images.
- Now you can create and edit posts. Each post is like editing a little mini page. Always remember to hit save. You can delete posts that you no longer want. You can update posts.
So I created 3 news posts. They are non-sensical, but you should get the idea.
The formatting is handled much the same as for a whole page. Post Options gives you and easy way to insert images that you won't need to format yourself.
